Here's an arts event with a great goal in mind. Thought I would pass it along.

Accessible Expressions Ohio 2009
Empowering People with Disabilities, Creatively and Inclusively, Through the Arts
Accessible Expressions Ohio is a statewide, juried, visual arts exhibition and tour adding to the richness of cultural diversity throughout Ohio.
Beginning September 1st of each year, artists are invited to submit photographs of their artwork to VSA arts of Ohio
Adjudicators review the photos to determine which artwork will be featured in the show. Artists are notified of their acceptance into the show and asked to then submit the actual artwork.
The artwork is exhibited at the opening ceremony and a second adjudication is conducted to determine the first, second and third place winners in each category, as well as Best in Show.
Following the opening ceremony, the artwork is divided into tours and travels around Ohio. Sales of artwork are encouraged at the opening ceremony as well as each tour site.
The Deadline for entries is
December 1, 2008.
Entry Guidelines
All work must be original.
All works must be smaller than 38” (in any direction) with frame.
Artists may enter no more than two (2) works for judging.

All artwork becomes the property of VSAO from the date of delivery until it is returned to its owner or sold. Photos remain the property of VSAO and will not be returned.
A Best in Show prize will be awarded, as well as prizes for first, second and third place in the following categories:
Ø Professional
Ø Emerging
Ø Youth (under age 18)
Framing Guidelines
There is a lot to consider when framing your artwork, and several requirements for the Accessible Expressions Ohio Show.
All artwork submitted to the exhibition should be professionally framed. Good framing adds to the attractiveness of the exhibit and promotes the sale of artwork.
All work MUST be wired for hanging.
Please use plexiglass for large works. Glass over 18” x 24” is both heavy and fragile. The use of plexiglass will insure your artwork can be exhibited in a variety of situations and will not be damaged.
Fragile work should have a hard back to protect it during travel.
Three-dimensional pieces should be shipped in a box or package that will serve as a shipping crate for the duration of the exhibit.
PLEASE NOTE: Selected artists will receive a stipend to assist with framing expenses.
A disability is defined as a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more life activities of and individual. An impairment is a physiological disorder affecting one or more of a number of body systems, or a mental or psychological disorder.
